The Sauk Centre Area History Museum & Research Center proudly collects, preserves and exhibits artifacts and archival information from the Sauk Centre area; including the surrounding townships of Getty, Ashley, Sauk Centre & Raymond. The museum acts as a resource for individuals and organizations seeking historical information, showcasing the area heritage. The museum aims to document history, provide expertise to produce exhibits, collect & preserve cultural artifacts and documents for future generations. The ultimate goals is to provide the opportunity everyone to learn about & enjoy the area's history & build a sense of community heritage. The Sauk Centre Historical Society is also the owner of the Sinclair Lewis’ Boyhood Home. SINCLAIR LEWIS BOYHOOD HOME: The childhood home of Sinclair Lewis, America’s first Nobel Prize winner for Literature, has been restored to the period when Harry Sinclair Lewis lived here with his parents and brothers, Fred & Claude. It was built in 1889 and it is where Sinclair Lewis spent his formative years in Sauk Centre. The home, a National Historical Landmark, is wonderfully preserved & open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Tour the home to learn more about his early life & literary legacy. This is a must see if you are in the Sauk Centre area.
